What I Did:
Mason House Inn in Bentonsport, Iowa. Room 5
How I Did It:
My 5 year old daughter heard children playing in the hallway and she wanted to go play with them. It was about 6 am and I did not want her to be noisy and wake the other people in the Inn. She kept insisting so I let her go but she came back right away saying there was nobody there. In a few minutes I heard the children playing in the hallway and she heard it too, so I let her go out and she came back again wondering where the children were. At breakfast I told the innkeepers and asked about the other children and she said there were no children guests. But she said there were several child ghosts and lots of people have heard them playing and giggling in the rooms and hallways. She told me about the other ghosts there, three previous owners and a Civil War soldier. It was not scary but really weird to have heard the ghost children.
Lessons Learned:
- I already believed in ghosts but this really showed me not to be afraid of them and they don't want to hurt you. Mostly they are just 'doing their thing' and sometimes people see or hear them 'doing their thing'.
